Here’s What to Do When Your Furnace Won’t Ignite
We are trudging through the last several weeks of winter but we still are relying on our furnaces, especially during cool nights. There’s not a lot that is worse than turning in at night and realizing your furnace won’t kick on. If this happens to you, here are some things you can check yourself before calling Stevenson Service Experts.
Check Air Filters
You should replace standard air filters every 30 days. If you fail to do so, they can become clogged, restricting air flow and resulting in a furnace malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
See if turning the temperature up a few degrees will get the furnace to turn on. If the true room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t run. Also, verify the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem ridiculous, but confirm the power switch next to the heating system is “On.” Even gas furnaces use electricity so make sure the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch has not been accidently switched to the “Off” position.
If you check all these things and your heating system will still not turn on, give Stevenson Service Experts a call at 614-334-3192 and we’ll come out and get you heating again as soon as possible.
