The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Field Support Office in Plano, TX was excited to contribute 324 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in Plano, TX.
“Last year, I had the ability to get a group of colleagues to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was an unbelievable experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They do so much more than just collect food – they are a critical part of this community.”
Minnie’s Food Pantry was created by Cheryl Jackson as a way to honor her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent much of her childhood wondering if and where she would obtain her next meal. Not only does Minnie’s provide free healthy meals to families in need, they also hold classes to teach families how to use the food they get to create nutritious, long-lasting meals. They also give resume support along with financial and job classes to help families get back on their feet.
Because around 50 pounds of food is given to each family to last them a month, Service Experts was able to feed six families for the month.
“Everyone was so excited that we had this food drive for the organization, and they even took us around their awesome facility,” Wilson said.
