Neal Harris Service Experts in Kansas City always talks about how our team of experts are NATE-certified, and while it sounds encouraging, what does it actually mean?
NATE is an abbreviation for North American Technician Excellence and, as stated on their website, is the nation’s largest certification organization for HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and refrigeration technicians. The organization was developed nearly 20 years ago and is supported by the entire HVAC and refrigeration industry but not all people in the industry are required to be certified through NATE. The certification is optional and technicians can service heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment without being certified through NATE.
It’s important to Neal Harris Service Experts that our technicians are NATE-certified to be sure we are sending the most qualified and professional technicians into your home. To make sure professionals meet these criteria, the NATE-certification assessments validate real-world working knowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems for technicians. The exams are knowledge-based assessments that assess the technician’s knowledge of these standards.
Since Neal Harris Service Experts focuses on the HVAC side of NATE-certification instead of refrigeration, there are only certain areas relevant to our technicians. NATE test candidates may earn installation and/or service certification in one or more of the skill areas listed below:
- Air Conditioning
- Air Distribution
- Gas Heating

- Hydronics Gas (service only)
