Here's What to Do When Your Furnace Won't Ignite
We are making our way through the last few weeks of winter but we still are relying on our furnaces, especially during cold nights. There’s not a lot that is worse than turning in at night just to find out your furnace won’t start up. If your furnace won’t turn on, here are some things you can check yourself prior to calling Neal Harris Service Experts.
Check Air Filters
You should swap out standard air filters monthly. If you fail to do so, they can get clogged, obstructing air flow and causing your furnace to malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
See if turning the temperature up a few degrees will get the furnace to turn on. If the current room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the heating system won’t turn on. Also, verify the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem ridiculous, but confirm the power switch next to the furnace is “On.” Even gas furnaces use electricity so make sure the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch wasn’t accidently switched to the “Off” position.
If you inspect all these things and your heating equipment will still not kick on, give Neal Harris Service Experts a call at 816-787-0500 and we’ll come out and take care of you as soon as possible.
