What is the Difference Between an Air Handler and Furnace?

Air handlers and furnaces aren't usually used in the same home in Kansas City. If you use a furnace, you most likely won’t need to spend time thinking about an air handler.

Air handlers are usually used with heat pumps and manage airflow across your house. Some units also offer secondary heating and cooling pieces to assist the heat pump.

A furnace works differently by blowing warm air into your vents, which circulate it throughout your residence. Because furnaces rely on combustion chambers to create warmth, they don't use some of the pieces you'll find in a standard air handler.
